3D Shaking Table
By reproducing earthquake motions in three dimensions, back and forth, side to side, and up and down, it is possible to investigate in detail the collapse process of a structure.
The shaking table, which carries the test structures, measures 20m × 15m, and can accommodate structures weighing up to 1,200t.
It has one of the largest scales and capabilities in the world, capable of reproducing seismic motions up to intensity 7 on the Japanese seismic scale, equivalent to the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake.
It is also used for evaluating the seismic performance of houses and industrial infrastructure, as well as for verifying countermeasure technologies.
