About us
Launched in 2005 following the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the facility enables detailed studies of the destruction mechanisms of full-scale structures and the damage to building interiors by reproducing actual earthquake motions.
To contribute to understanding and improving the continuity of socio-economic activities, we engage in the research and development of a set of technologies to evaluate potential and future risks in preparation for large earthquakes and subsequent earthquakes.
Toward structures that never collapse
- Demonstration experiments: Reproducing actual earthquake motions and actually destroying full-scale structures.
- Clarification of the destruction process: Reproducing and tracking how structures break, and understanding the mechanisms of destruction through data analysis.
- Developing reliable technologies: Developing technologies to prevent destruction and damage, based on scientific and proven evidence.
