From July 19 to 24, the 17th World Congress on Computational Mechanics and the 10th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering (WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026) were held at Messe München in Munich, Germany (Photos 1 and 2).
WCCM is the world’s largest international conference on computational mechanics and applied mathematics, where cutting-edge research findings and analytical techniques are actively discussed.
Drs. Yamashita, Fujiwara, and Omura from the Hyogo Earthquake Engineering Research Center at the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) participated in the conference. They gave presentations on the numerical shake table (E-Simulator) currently under development at the research center and on analysis case studies utilizing it, and Dr. Fujiwara delivered a keynote lecture on research into the analysis of steel-frame buildings (Photos 3 and 4). In addition to the research presentations, exchanges of insights were also conducted with researchers from around the world.
