IASS 2025, which is an annual symposium organized by International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS), has been held from 27. Oct. to 31. Oct. at THE COLEGIO DE INGENIEROS CIVILES DE MEXICO, Mexico City. In this international conference, 8 keynote lectures and 54 parallel sessions regarding structures, form finding and other research topics around large spanned building structures, for example gymnasia, stadia, halls and so on, were taken place.
From Hyogo Earthquake Engineering Research Center of NIED, Dr. Fujiwara and Dr. Nishi attended the conference, and have presentations on a shake-table test, which was conducted in 2024 at E-Defense and entitled “A Shake-Table Test for Damage Assessment of Large Spanned Building Structures”. In the presentations, Dr. Fujiwara introduced the testing plan and global responses of the test specimen, and Dr. Nishi reported responses of non-structural components. After the presentation, the responses and damage of non-structural components were actively discussed, and high interest on that research topic was seen.
