The regular inspection of the facility began on April 1 and was successfully completed on July 29. This year’s work included replacing the seals of the seating platform, replacing the gas engine governor controller, and other maintenance tasks, which extended the inspection period by one month longer than usual.
Looking back, last fiscal year was marked by a series of troubles: failures of the control system UPS and measurement equipment that forced us to suspend operation, oil leakage from the seating table, and gas engine troubles that caused delays in experiments. We would like to once again express our sincere gratitude to all those involved for their cooperation in overcoming these challenges.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of E-Defense since the start of its operation, and the number of devices requiring renewal has been increasing. With a limited budget, it is essential to update and operate the facility efficiently, and many challenges remain. The sense of tension during experiments is growing, as unexpected issues may arise at any time. Nevertheless, by addressing each problem as it occurs, we are determined to carry out our experiments safely again this year. We appreciate your continued support.
